It takes years for new material to take the place of a existing material. Even if you have a new great item you have to produce it. people have to invest money that get no immediate return to build faculties and machines to work with the new item. Then sometimes it is found out it isn't really ready for production and gets left back or given up on or less money given to its development.
Some things never come to market because it would cost to much to re tool a item, or, why retool the item when the one they have is working. Just saying with all the obstacles 20 years is nothing to bring a new material or technology to market, the fact we still talk about BMG says it all imo.
