Thanks for the additional color senti. I wasn’t aware that the medidata from 22,000 clinical trials was used to comprise that control arm for Medicenna, but it’s quite interesting. I think it was this scientifically rigorous method that impressed the clinical trial “purist” Linda Liau, as well as the FDA.

I remember that discussion, and I also thought that LL would like to use that hybrid synthetic control arm, but in your reply, you referenced flipper’s post about the proposed analysis which basically nixed the idea of a hybrid control arm using the ~33 patients not treated with DCVax, so I let go of that idea. (and I’m pretty sure that exwannabe would also say that you can’t separate those patients from the rest of the control) I have no doubt though that same type of hybrid control arm will be used in the future for other trials in rare diseases with ethical concerns.
