dsertrat, I haven't looked at this particular company, but they usually do a symbol change with a name change.
And the split all add up to an acquisition with new Management.
Basically, the symbol is changed when the whole direction of the company is changed with most or all of the above changes.

FWIW, Chuck said he was checking out for the weekend.
