There's a big double standard. As a group the strongest anti-gay marriage folks are African-American Baptists. Many get very upset if you try to compare the gay struggle with their racial struggles. They've got a point, of course. There are a lot of differences. For one thing, gays growing up didn't used to have any church or community to turn to.
