You have no idea how timely your post was. I had not heard of that strategy, but what I really had interest in is the method of selecting the best etf's. They used the average of 3, 6, and 12 mo gains.
I have a money manager for some of my money and they use etf's that capture segments of the market like, Large Cap Value, Large Cap, Small Cap Value, Micro Cap, Int'l Val, Emerging Markets, and REITS.
So in total he had a list of about 10-12 etf's that he invested in by a percentage. Some have been multi-year losers, so I made him sell them back in Jan. Really goosed my gains for 1Q.
But now it is time to add some of the ones I cut back in. I have been trying to figure out how to do that now for several days and have come up empty handed.
I am going to apply the Papa Bear Avg gain formula and see what I come up with. Rather than just picking 3, I was thinking about picking say the top 8 out of 10 or 11.
If you know of any more methods of picking Momentum, I would love to hear them, anybody. Going to look at Stock Charts RRG charts this weekend also.
