Doc: To get beautiful roses you've got to start with roses, not the weedlings that overgrow IHUB. Why would anyone sellout a stock like the one your dad bought at IPO? Could a member have learned about Stryker on IHUB? Not likely. IHUB's moribund SYK board has just 48 posts despite the stock's steady ascent to $253 after five splits. As I often say, IHUB is mostly about Slobbering Stock Gambling and shilling scams.

What local would want such a mature NYSE stock, one founded in 1941? Never mind that SYK is up about 1000X since its 1979 IPO, not counting dividends and perhaps spinoffs. That's still too boring for most locals.

I do *prune* blockbuster winners occasionally as diversification and sound sleep are important. Last year, I sold about 15% of my booming Cintas holding and, as I expected, CTAS, a fine company, has continued blooming.

I'm writing this because I recently read about the little known role of just one investment in the success of Warren Buffett and Ben Graham. One stock: Two investing legends! Graham invested in GEICO in 1948. His Columbia student and tyro partner, Buffett, followed a few years later. WB added to his GEICO holding in 1976. BRK acquired the rest of the company in 1996.

On Selling Winners and Holding Losers according to Berkeley Professor Terrance Odean:
