I should add that induced currents would explain why these incidents of sudden acceleration seem isolated. After the EM wave energy dissipates, all systems would return to normal and function correctly as if there isnt a problem with the car. I bet induced currents to the CPU power supply could cause interesting glitches...autopilot going Maximum Overdrive on its operators maybe?
