Dmceng4- The DTC is currently the legal owner and WMI is the beneficiary. It is this feature which make the assets bankruptcy remote. Temporary ownership was transferred from WMI to the DTC. However, the FDIC uses its federal authority to seize bank assets in the case of bank seizure. It's a paperwork thing.

I am confident that once the documents are presented, the FDIC will release their hold. Since the BK has come to an end and all classes ahead of equity has been paid, in the words of Brian Rosen, "they are still there and equity can go after them."
