From what I gather, that was an already existing app on the app store, found at the URL https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1503997318 (linked form the above page) which means it passed Apple's approval process, giving it credibility as a "real" app. We don't know how that app looks now.

Seems to me that the company's vision grew much larger at some point that they needed to close the curtains to rebuild the whole system, business and technology, and reflect that in the app then release the monster all at once.

But the most important point is, it seems there's an app.
