I agree with your points, except:

I do think there is a useful small cache part that AMD could market - socket 754 32-bit K8 (Celeron space). Take the existing K8, reduce cache, disable 64-bit extensions.

If there is any castration of Hammer, it should be limit to say 4 GB of memory, as Petz suggested on SI. Purposly lowering the number of AMD64 capable processors in the marketplace would be just plain dumb, IMO. How would you tell the software developers to go out on the limb and develop for AMD64 if even AMD is not fully behind it?
