If CRL wanted a significant position in nwbo, they could buy it in the open market without acquiring Cognate.

I believe their objective in this acquisition is not to acquire a stake in NWBO, it is to strengthen their core business. A stake in NWBO and being NWBO's manufacturer is a value-add.
