Interesting that you bring that up

I don't have an estimated IRR for the projected discovery of the size of Tau

But one key factor that has been mentioned before is probably worth mentioning again

The Tau prospect is of special interest not just due to its size

The miocene sands and the reservoir type (turtleback, IIRC), give a probability of having a high porosity and flow rate of a high quality crude that could be a world-class, top tier discovery

The continental slope area, and the target zone in particular, were chosen as a sweet spot where the subsalt reservoirs of the same age and geology as the huge deepwater finds like Mahogany, can be reached from jackup rigs on the continental shelf

The shelf gives 2 additional and significant benefits, MUCH lower cost to drill and readily available infrastructure

These give the twin advantage of quicker and lower cost to develop to first oil initially, followed by continued lower cost of production throughout the life of the reservoir

If they can pull it off, it will be magnificent!
