Just a simple question about the 'Isms' and how they will impact investing in commodity plays via the mining industry?
Also, is a focus on eliminating the use of Fossil Fuels going to impact the mining of industrial and precious metals? Mining and metals processing requires a high base-load energy source.
If some countries are forced to stop using or extracting fossil fuels or relying in nuclear power control the climate, will they become exclusively dependent on countries where mining and processing of minerals are allowed?
It seems that the countries which cannot mine and support major industrial manufacturing of metal products for defense must develop industries which can produce some service which they can exchange for product which they are forbidden to manufacture due to dependence on non-fossil fuels or nuclear power sources.
If one country just grows grains and assembles clothing and toys, then how will they survive if the planet's poles shift, which has occurred many times, resulting in a new ice age?
Will the industrial countries, which have a variety of energy sources, be willing to share their limited food and energy with those countries who have developed a society which forbids the use of fossil fuels and nuclear some other fissionable power sources?
Kind of an interesting and challenging question for those societies who become so focused on believing their religious convictions can affect the the weather of a planet by relying solely on renewable energy for heat and plant based food sources?
Also, what if an asteroid strikes the Earth or one of the history altering volcanic eruptions occurred, which will block sufficient sunlight from reaching the Earth's surface for years? No sunlight, no heat, no photosynthesis, a reduction in the production of oxygen, cold temperatures, etc. will make for another pretty dim period in history until the dust finally settles and the sunlight and temperatures rises.
Which society is more likely survive?
