Yes the potential patients know they are taking 2-73, an investigational new drug for the treatment of AD.

That is all part of informed consent.

They also know there is a chance they could be assigned to the placebo group and not receive any 2-73. Of course since it is a blinded trial they will not know if the pill they receive is 2-73 or the placebo.

They do know that at the end of the trial they will be able to receive 2-73 in the open label extension part of the trial whether they were in the placebo group or one of the trial arms receiving 2-73.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with its own money.
