Why would the company spend thousands to put out a PR that states exactly what everyone has figured out by now? I'd rather them spend their time productively rather than dealing with petty investor BS.

Your blanket statement about Twitter is wrong. There is plenty of legit communication and announcements made using social media. (It's FREE after all...)
