Liquidmetal Coatings was once "ours," but it was sold off many years ago... before the MTA was signed with Apple. When it was sold, it was the only division of LQMT that was making money. So why was it sold? Guess who owned a large piece of it? [Kang]

The primary use for the coatings was/is in oil drilling, where the inside of pipes were coated with Liquidmetal to improve their hardness. For a short while Rawlings used coatings for a line of baseball bats and Head used coatings for tennis rackets and skis. But the ultra thin coatings gave those products no performance advantages.
