Why do you use the power button to turn off the computer? I always heard years ago that you only use that method if your screen is frozen and you can't power down the normal way. Maybe because you are using this method it is causing a problem with your hard drive? I would backup any important documents, pics, etc jic it dies. And I would not power down pressing the power button. Maybe it is a quicker way to shut off the computer and maybe the newer computers allow for this type of shutdown, but I can remember years ago that this was a no-no.
