While I appreciate Ted's perspective, I none-the-less disagree with a couple of his statements. To think that the markets are over-priced based on vaccine hype that is "still a few weeks out" baffles me. Markets are always looking ahead 6 months to a year. At least that's what I've always understood. He goes on to suggest that there is no protection from the vaccine until after the 2nd dose which is false. Granted, full immunity effectiveness won't be achieved until the follow-up dose is applied (and had time for the body to respond), it none-the-less will offer some/progressive effectiveness even from the initial dose. Hepatitis B vaccine has a similar regimen as does the shingles vaccine for example. I may now be splitting hairs at this point but even if we take Ted's statement at face value, I still disagree with his premise that market advancement won't proceed until full population inoculation is achieved, as well as the underlying rationale supporting that premise being that it's because vaccine protection for the average Joe won't occur until summer. My take is who cares? If we can initially protect the population most at risk from death or serious effects from covid starting in the next 4-6 weeks (which is what is projected at the moment),then we have achieved the primary objective imo. Not to mention the fact that by adding up all the people already exposed (and now immune they have since found out),with those 20-30 million front-line and elderly who get inoculated, you now have begun to establish the beginning of "herd immunity". From my perspective, the market will still remain intact, the younger (under 60) workers can still work and a lock down is off the table, which is the way I believe the market is interpreting this scenario. I don't think the market is ahead of itself in any form or fashion (regarding the vaccine). Obviously I will admit that should there be any serious disruption in the execution of the projected process, then of course all bets are off. wink
