...why should Apple use BMG???

In spite of the hundreds of posts about liquidmetal and its future use in the mid-frame of iPhones, my guess is that the mid-frame is not where Apple will use liquidmetal. To paraphrase Joshuaeyu, the mid-frame is a Me Too part. Liquidmetal offers no significant advantage as a mid- frame. (The key word being “significant.”) The hinge in foldable phones, on the other hand, is a Me Only part. I can think of no material other than liquidmetal that offers the strength and elastic properties necessary to make ultra-thin hinge parts. So my thinking is that Apple will use liquidmetal and they will use it in the hinges for their future foldable phones.

On that note, about a month or so ago I read that in late 2021 Apple will come out with a hinged phone, and that Apple will capture over 50% of the hinge phone market... more than Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, etc. combined. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but if Apple comes out with a hinge phone, the hinges are likely to be made of liquidmetal.
