The provisional patent expired in March of 2020. It ran its course and served its purpose. The full patent was then applied for. It was not a requirement for the text of the provisional patent to match the full patent application, the provisional patent if I remember correctly isn't even reviewed by the patent office. It just serves to lock in the date of your invention. Then you have a year to determine exactly what it is you are going to claim in your patent application.

Michael Kraft and Dr. Ramez Elgammal are listed as the inventors. They reported that they reviewed the IP landscape in an early meeting with Evonik, and ultimately they made an agreement in which Evonik would produce CHS using Cortec's IP. If Evonik thought for a second the Cortec patent was an infringement on anyone else's IP do you think they'd have agreed to work with Coretec?

Who knows what products might be improved upon and patented on account of the application of CHS in the manufacturing process?
