I too much prefer the more costly computer and wire aircraft.

The 747-Max exists only to be Boeing's cheapest economy model.

The highly automated A320-neo costs $130 million vs $92 million for the 747-Max-economy.


The two aircraft have the same physical design with the slung-forward high-bypass engine, tacked-on for better fuel economy, but the Boeing is more difficult to control due to its lacking a flight computer to compensate for the inherent imbalance.


You get what you pay for, if you're lucky. In this case price is what's paid, but lack of value is what the 747-Max provides.

We've run out of other people's Social Security taxes needed to subsidize our low income tax rates.
