Of course we can do better but as you admit EVs will have little impact on reducing our footprint.

We need sensible transition because EVs have an enviornmental cost, mostly from batteries. In addition to that our electric grids are not equiped for massive EV adoption. Thats why the US can only support about 24m EVs by 2028. Not just because of lack of power generation at the right times but because of the infrustructure wasnt setup to handle EVs.
