Gadflys don't have "opinions", they're mild irritants (easy to shut down and an ever-present feature of the landscape, sort of like doggie-doo on the sidewalk).

As far as the result, it's disappointing, but now we're back to the real business of the company. DES was a short, relatively inexpensive and worth a try attempt at another plausible indication.

The eye and the kidney are as different as the mouth and the other end, something the gadfly regularly confuses.
