Apple still has trademark rights (in CE) for LQMT regardless of what happens, that is perpetual. I think it more has to do with LQMT and Eon in the fact that 106C is NOT patented but was jointly developed, and Li has indicated it belongs to LQMT (although I don't know how official that is from Eon's POV). Once the JDP ends, I think 106C fully becomes LQMT's with no issues from Eon. So Li can then sell 106C to Apple through LQMT with revenues to LQMT. I think Li is playing this very well. The March date could be a coincidence, albeit very odd for an Apple product release to be made public nearly 6 months early. And if it is NOT a coincidence, then Apple must be okay with this process of waiting for this to play out.
