After having been in business for 17 years, I cannot guess to motivation in being public. With the stigma of its founding and the hysteria/opposition to the projects/agencies/countries their software supports, I would have stayed private if it was my decision, only to keep that constant stream of media attention feeding to desire.

I know the government platform having, been a user in past life, as well as their history within Dept of Defense contracts and the agencies and units that use it, I can say I would take it over any other choice. I see their vision on what they want to achieve within the military and decided to let them use my money to get there.
