An RS does not change the market cap, it simply reduces the OS. Loans are re-termed to reflect the new share price and count. No money is made or last until the selling starts. We won't be able to trade for 3 days, but the shareholders of record WILL be able to trade, and mostly they sell while we can't. After an RS, the share price almost immediately drops. By the time we can trade, we will see losses.
The only effective way I've found, over the years, to survive an RS is to sell first, wait until after the RS + 30 days, then buy back in if the picture looks good.
