However, I don’t see how he can say or at least imply that, since the trial studied patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2009. Since the cap wasn’t in use until 2011, how can he measure its impact on survival? There were no patients wearing the cap in the time period of the study.

I must admit I feel like I’m missing something since it seems like such a basic contradiction but that’s what it looks like from the presentation of data and study design.
