I have looked at the battery manufacturing sector and for the last week looked at Lithium reserves and production. Based on projections and importantly government mandates that can only be achieved using EV's, I changed my opinion that there isn't a potentially long term gain to be had investing in Lithium miners. ALB is still my 1st choice, with SQM a possible other option. I'm currently looking at a few smaller miners. The coming battle will be securing a reliable supply of cost effective raw materials as we swing from oil to electric vehicles. In a strange coincidence we may be looking at a shortage of inexpensive Lithium similar to the oil shocks of the 70's. Here's a good Forbes article that frames the issue.

Note: If researchers are able to come up with a cost effective method of extracting Lithium from seawater in volume that could solve the problem. But, the shortage of Lithium could be only 4 years away so the development of an extraction method will have to arrive soon if we are to avoid the possibility.
