sts@ One of my pro life jobs were computer tech for NCR (15 years).

The firsts thing many private people have never learnt. It is HEAT killing most private computers in this world. Huge amounts of dust in coolers (blowers) from years of 'not being cleaned' Kills the beloved old tower placed on the floor.

First thing to do if you want a reliable computer over years - Keep is Clean from dust - on or two times a year - remove typical right side cabinet (looking from back) - use a compressor with a blow pistol carefully (keep a distance 20 cm to blowers not destroying the blades).

Use your ears (if blower's starts making more noise - they tell you to 'Clean Time' :)

sts - computer problems can be many things (as you surely will know) - after cleaning for dust - start by updating Windows. Are your systems grounded (3. legged power connections) Modems typically hate static electricity. If not you could try to connect a simple wire from frame of your computer to a radiator (if you have one - grounding computer) :)

Night here - Later
