I wish that were true, but until we're curing 100% of the patients I think that supplementing drugs that increase the life span, and ultimately cure more people will be necessary. I believe our vaccines will remain a part of the SOC, but hopefully other products can improve on their performance.

In the 1950's people felt that by the year 2000 we'd cure cancer and power everything with cheap, safe fusion. Today I suspect that at the year 2100 most experts today wouldn't forecast that cancer will be cured, or that we'll have fusion. I would hope these things happen, but the more we learn, the harder doing certain things become. I do believe that many cancers will have been reduced to being a nuisance, but some will still be deadly, I don't know if we'll ever get fusion in a sustained form, I believe we could pulse it successfully today but it would be costly, and not nearly as efficient.
