Apple did not present anything on Tuesday that required LM to boost its functionality. It might have been nice if the Watch had LM, or the iPad Air, but neither of those products require anything like LM right now.

This is why the move to 5G mmWave is such a big deal. Liquidmetal will provide 5G mmWave devices exceptional functionality, because it is invisible to the signal, while every other metal causes some level of signal loss.

If ANY device in the Apple lineup is likely to have LM it is the top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro Max.

On this we have a number of data points:

- The Phone 12 Pro Max will be the only iPhone 12 with 5G mmWave.
. LM is the best metal for such a signal.

- The Phone 12 Pro Max will have a limited production run.
. Allowing the limited number of LM machines to meet need.

- The Phone 12 Pro Max will only be available in 3 markets.
. Ensuring the number of phones needed will be lower than usual.

- The Phone 12 Pro Max will be available later than all the other iPhone 12's.
. Allowing for slow, careful production, consistent with a first-run, while also keeping things under wraps for as long as possible.

- The Phone 12 Pro Max has had no image leaks.
. Which might give away LM use.

- The Phone 12 Pro Max will be the largest and thinnest iPhone ever, and thus most in danger of bendgate.
. Necessitating a strong frame/midframe, which LM is able to provide.

- The Phone 12 Pro Max will be the most expensive phone.
. Allowing margin for the LM cost to be incorporated into the cost of the phone.

Add to this the further rumors we have heard here that Apple was unable to make LM work with the curved edges of previous-generation iPhones, so they moved to straight edges for exactly this reason. Notably, the last time iPhones came out with straight edges was the same time LM was supposedly strongly in the running for providing iPhone frames.

And there's more.

The new Gorilla Glass is being called essentially drop-proof from six feet. It's outrageously strong. If you could add a frame that would match this capability then you might be able to market a phone that doesn't need a case, which would be extraordinary and quite ballsy, actually.

Color rumors suggest Deep Blue is a new color added this year. That happens to be the main color that LM takes on while being oxidized. See the image below.

Now, finally, project tech forward 5-10 years. Laptops, iPads, and Apple Watches will all operate on 5G mmWave. These products will not be made out of aluminum or stainless steel. Either they go plastic, or they go LM. Which do you suspect Apple would prefer from a design perspective?

We are also on the cusp of a design changeover for Apple. Their Apple Silicon Macs will be visible different and visibly better in every way, design-wise, from their current generation. This new design language will require new materials to be a part of this new look.

Thus, it is possible, dare I say likely, that LM has been seriously considered for this year's iPhone 12 Max Pro and to be a candidate for eventually housing a vast number of Apple's next generation of products.

THAT's the reality about Apple and LM. No one honestly expected Tuesday's event to unveil anything in the LM wheelhouse. But keep your eyes on October, and if they don't mention LM in their special event, it may take until November, when the iP12MP's ship, for someone to take one apart and realize that Vibranium is at the product's heart.
