Doma--You make my point in spades. Examine the S. Sprage e-mail closely:

The correct concept is that the Java guys can store keys on the TPM a TPM is a key management technology, not yet a
secure application technology.
Yes Java can make calls to the TPM if the correct software is there and configured correctly."
The above is a description of a CLOSED Trust Domain. This has nothing to do with Interoperability between Trust Domains. This is just cross-platform Interoperability within a Single Trust Domain. The Closed Trust Domain already has the "correct software"(ie application) baked into or pre-configured within the software stack. This Trust Domain is NOT equipped to suddenly accept applets from a FINREAD Trust Domain, because it is NOT Interoperable other than in the VERY LIMITED sense of Interoperability of applications that are already pre-configured inside the stack. There is a World of Difference between a Trust Domain which has been pre-configured to accept a limited number of baked-in applications with different security scheme, and an Open Trust Domain that is able to accept a WHOLE UNIVERSE OF APPLICATIONS.
