Notes from my June 15, 2016, conversation with VLDI CEO - Part 9

I have decided that the easiest way to post my notes from my June 15, 2016 conversation with Bruce Benn is to just copy and past my original notes. Since I have actually been editing them in my first 8 posts, the next few posts that finish off the notes regarding that conversation will repeat some of the information I have already posted. Sorry about the redundancy. I have not taken the time to correct any typos from my original notes. What you are reading will be exactly the same information I shared with my forum.

If I heard him correctly, at the same time MSFT announced their new OEM Enterprise phone, they also announced that they were planning to abandon their Lumia phones that were being marketed to consumers in a head-to-head competition with products that had been developed by and were being marketed by Microsoft's own OEM partners. I have not been able to find any news about that, so I may have misunderstood him on that point. It is probably not important, but with Bruce you never know.

The point that is important is that NONE OF THEM had any encryption-protocols, until FaceBook announced that they were adding encryption to cover all of their applications.

Now all of FaceBook's competition is rushing to either develop or buy cyber security for their apps before they lose market share in the Cloud and Mobile worlds.

It was at this point in the conversation that I realized he had apparently called me primarily to answer my "Yes" or "No" question about whether or not the Global Launch of the messaging app will be public or private. He reminded me of the comment he made in the 8-K regarding "current" and "pending" negotiations with the Majors. And he made the point that all of those companies have approached VLDI about using VP for their Cloud and Mobile cyber-security solution. In addition to the Majors that are jockeying for control of their various sectors, there are perhaps 50 companies that have products that compete on various levels with WhatsApp. And a significant number of them want Bruce to give them exclusivity.

The problem is that since a number of them are in the same sector, and are actually head-to-head competitors, it is impossible for all of them to get exclusive ownership of the technology in their sector.

With that in mind, whether or not the global launch will be public or private will apparently be determined by whether or not one of those companies steps up to the plate and negotiates an exclusive control of the VP technology for their sector. If one does, then he seemed to be saying that they will get to determine if they want the announcement to be public or private. On the other hand, if one actually decides it is to their advantage to buy VLDI outright, then the buyout announcement would be public, but Bruce would no longer be the one who would make the decision regarding any announcement regarding the messaging application.

So, Bruce's answer to my question was, "Yes, except that it is subject to a price, because there are two things that you have to do here. Either an exclusive with us, or if you are one of the mobile messaging companies, what are you going to do with this mobile messaging app that is going?"
