I live in Hua Hin, Thailand but i am a legal resident of Livingston, Texas. I also have an address in Columbus, Ohio for business reasons. I have mail boxes at both locations because i am in Thailand most of the time and no one wants to mail documents to Thailand.
This is very common. I read an article about a guy who works out of his house distributing private label root beer. He shipped $1.5 billion worth of the stuff last year using 3rd party providers.
I chose Livingston as my legal residence because i am an American citizen and there is no state income tax there, which is huge for me because i trade a lot of equity options. If i lived in California where i was born i'd pay 13.3% state income tax. Now can you see why folks are fleeing Kalifornia for Texas?
Anyway, the Vienna address doesn't bother me at all. He is keeping expenses low until he has sales. Smart. This is a brave new world. Depending on your business, you can operate it on the other side of the world from your customers.
