Many drugs have been shown to have coronary plaque promoting e.g. Testosterone and plaque regressing effects (e.g Vascepa, Statins, Cilostazol, Biologic therapies in Psoriasis, Xarelto, Eliquis,etc..)
We also know that the risk of CV events and survival prognosis are directly and independently related to the burden of plaque disease (both plaque extent and plaque volume). The plaque type and morphology also influences the outcome...low attenuation plaque in a napkin ring confirmation with spotty calcification and outward remodelling,being the very worst...fortunately exactly the type of plaque Vascepa appears to regress!
