Tilt, Some researchers contend that sugar is more addictive than cocaine.

James DiNicolantonio is a cardiovascular research scientist at St. Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Mo. He recently published a comprehensive review of dozens of studies in which he contends that sugar is more dangerous than salt when it comes to risk for heart disease. He says that refined sugar is similar to cocaine -- a white crystal extracted from sugar cane rather than coca leaves -- and that studies show it can be even more addictive than the recreational drug.

I know sugar is off subject, but I strongly believe sugar is closely tied to most of our ills, including cancer. It’s also been linked to fueling the bad bacteria in our gut, and when the bad bacteria runs wild, our digestive system doesn’t work right.
I’m also a strong believer that sugar substitutes are as bad as sugar. They continue the addiction while adding chemicals that our bodies may not know what to do with and which may, in themselves, be cancer causing or cause us to gain weight.
One way to fight the addiction is to clean your mouth out after a sweet treat...or a salty one. The taste of it I. Your mouth keeps you yearning g for more. A glass of water will work or a food with no sugar in it. But the best way to beat sugar and salt additions are to replace thoughts of food with thoughts of feeling and looking good. I’ve had to break the sugar addition it seems every year after the Christmas holidays, and I do it by focusing on how good I feel without sugar in my diet. And I do feel so much better, from fewer digestive problems to less weight to carry my back bones.
