If TLD is wonderful, great then why not?

I would reverse that and say; 'why?'

Merck simply isn't in the game of acquiring autologous immunotherapy platforms that involve complex individualised manufacturing processes.
It doesn't fit their business model.
Which is basically; 'pile it high, sell it at an exorbitant price'.
And that is epitomised by the pembrolizumab example, which involves mass production of an off the shelf product. Low unit cost and 90% mark-up.
Pembro is expected to become the biggest grossing drug in the world, in about another years time.

Why would they wish to acquire the DCVax platform?
The only reason I could see, is so that they could run a couple of 'design to fail' Direct P2's, and then quietly terminate any further development. Though I guess they might consider that a value investment at the acquisition price that you suggested.
That's the only reason that I can see, as to why they would even consider it.

And it's not what I would want to happen with my investment anyway, which goes beyond being purely financial.
And I don't think it's what LP really wants either, imo.

Though I guess the old maxim of 'everyone has their price' still holds true at least to some extent.

It really depends on whether you think that LP has a similar psychology and similar motivation to somebody like Arie Belldegrun.
Who did a fantastic job (purely in terms of personal aggrandisement) of fattening up Kite for market, and personally walking away with something like $700m, when Gilead came along.

How many patients worldwide have been treated with Yescarta?
Probably less than 10,000.
That deal will have chastened Gilead and the rest of BP. And made it less likely that there will be a queue lining up to acquire NWBO.
