AirPower: Maybe Not so Dead After All?

AirPower Revived?

Though Apple decided not to make the AirPower after announcing it, there have been rumors that the Cupertino company is still quietly working on a wireless charging solution.
In January, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who often accurately predicts Apple's product plans, said that Apple was working on a "small wireless charging mat" to be released at some point in 2020. No other details were included.

obviously the article does not say “discontinued”

infact the article says airpower is still being worked on its even hinted at in the title … twice!!

and where are those “other articles out there say the same thing” which you provided no links

announced in 2017 but prototype from 2019 so again obviously its still being worked on not discontinued

so why would you make those 2 false ‘discontinued’ claims?
whats the agenda behind that?

regardless here are some info/thoughts on the matter
disclaimer its my presumption that the first/volume/recurring/orders is not for guitar pins/hinges but for something much bigger in volume hence i think its the airpower.

with that out of the way onto your ‘discontinued’ claim

so yes that disassembly is a 2019 prototype of the often delayed 2017 airpower that apple is still working on.
the delays are related to the on/off management of all those 14 overlapping charging coils not with the metal frame/lattice/manufacturing.

past lqmt pr mention prototypes/parts production but they are not first/recurring/volume/orders in the q2 pr which now means the airpower is close to release and not discontinued.
confirmation of that came recently from 2 leakers claiming airpower was going to be the ‘one more thing’ reveal in the october iphone event but was removed/delayed again until late 2020/early 2021 but NOT discontinued.

no matter when its due parts are now manufactured in volume and those parts get paid

here are 3 links/leakers claiming it has not been discontinued just delayed

(dont confuse mass production/assembly with volume manufacturing of parts)

Just that heat management is much better / fixed on the newer prototypes.

Hasn’t hit mass production yet — so who knows if / when we’ll see a consumer product.

this from a now deleted account of an apple employee who was leaking the prerecording of the iphone event due october

Our take: The original AirPower certainly would’ve been an engineering marvel. I’m curious to see how things turn out for the second version reportedly in the works…
