As a reminder, all gains and the investments will be donated to charity.



Very admirable.

I'm pretty sure that if you donate appreciated stock you can get a deduction at the market value and never pay tax on the gains.

They donee of course being a charity will not pay taxes upon selling because they will use funds for things like feeding,clothing and educating people.
