Yes, understood. I have made similar mistakes. Big regrets too!

Initially one may make a few distinctions and sub distinctions, differentiating firstly between 1) general technology stocks, consumer technologies especially; and 2) other regulated wind complex technologies like biotechs. That is, if you’re talking technologies.

Secondly, there are bubble mentalities that take over, some refer to them as “animal spirits”. Car-T technologies I think had a bubble associated with incredible and non-stop fawning press coverage. They did amazing things, rapidly. So that one could virtually see it happening. No long waits.

Lastly, is the target company in a space with lots of massive dinosaurs that will do anything to stop them, or is it just populated by lots of small companies using legacy technologies that can’t compete. And if it is in an area highly populated by big competitors, will it make their technologies obsolete if it succeeds or make them more valuable.

There are a lot of pieces to a puzzle to see what may release or bottle up value creation.

I think we all have regrets here and there not jumping on a big opportunity, just not seeing it clearly or seeing it but not seeing it initially as an investment.

Good luck! Let’s hope we see some fantastic valuations ahead!
