Climate change is a policy issue. Addressing the climate threats to financial systems is not a partisan issue. The recent collaboration by U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) brings this point home. In June, the senators called on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to include specific recommendations for addressing the financial risk of climate change in the coming report by its Climate-Related Market Risk Subcommittee, the first federal financial regulator advisory committee focused on the issue.
