Senator Lisa Murkowski, Republican-Alaska, said that she would skip the Republican National Convention where President Donald Trump is set to accept the party's nomination in August.

Following widespread protests over racial injustice that have been taking place and outraged over Trump's response, Murkowski said that she is struggling over whether she can even support the president in November.

Senator Lisa Murkowski, has had several disagreements with President Trump. She also has stated that she has reservations about the Pebble mine, even if it will bring in much-needed revenue for Alaska's citizens and for the poverty-stricken Native Alaskans. The Pebble mine could be an ecological disaster, and so she might oppose it.

She isn't up for re-election until 2022. But even if she opposes Pebble, she will not be able to stop its construction.
