The Appendix filing is a non-event in terms of the substance. It is nothing more than the record on Appeal. Looking at the citations in Singer's Reply, the Appendix is at least 109,000 pages, which is the largest Appendix that I personally have ever seen in an appeal, although I had a case where the Appendix would have been even larger if it did not settle.

Given the size, this is one filing that your local marjac will not be downloading and circulating to the faithful.

You did hit on its significance, though. The filing of the Appendix signifies the completion of the briefing/filing by the parties, leaving the disposition of the Appeal completely in the hands of the court.

There is indeed a non-zero chance of receiving THE ruling, if the court decides to rule on the papers without oral argument. I will say, however, that the chances of ruling on the papers without oral argument are very small in this case, and I would be floored if the decision is made on the papers without oral argument.
