$NAK The @powerthefuture Energy Hour tonight - airing from 5-6 PM Alaska time on KVNT (1020 AM/92.5FM/ online at 1020kvnt.com/) will feature @DanielTurnerPTF in segment 2, and @PebbleProject’s CEO Tom Collier for the last 30 minutes. Listen in! It will be a great show.
this radio (*replay) show can be found on sound cloud and this show is replayed on Saturdays from 5 to 6 (alaska time).
my notes of this fyi:
collier said the 24th is the FEIS date..we are most excited that we have redesigned this project so that we could take a lot of the environmental community (objectors) out of the equation so that is why we have been able to move this project so quickly forward.
He discusses his own oped, (the interviewer said the opponents attitude was garbage in and garbage out).
Collier referred to Roosevelt's comment, you give these peeps donuts and all they can see is the hole.
We have spent the last six years designing a project specifically to deal with the concerns of the regulators and environmental community, ..

The opponents have mischaracterized their portrayal of the regulatory community, the agencies were not so negative or even close as the Left portrayed them
the ARMY corp is the umpire, they make the final call
On the big issues, i believe the army corp has satisfied the concerns of the other agencies, their concerns
have been addressed,
the best example of this was the corp's suggestion and belief that we use their road transportation of the northern corridor and they have incorporated it into their plan

(interviewer: the mine can exist with the fish,)
tom: the objectors. will never ever admit this, including that the mine will not harm the fishery
and i believe the feis will show that Unequivocally.
so now it is time to look at the economic benefits, at that point now finally what i find is the middle group (not the LEFT), the more they learn about pebble and the changes we have made to accommodate environmental concerns, the more the agencies have understood about it,
They can have their opinions, but not the facts (in other words the science underlying the project is about facts) Now given the status of the application, it is appropriate I believe to turn to the economic opportunities...
the economic opportunities in the bristol bay region and borough:
2K jobs, 100K full time jobs, not seasonal which is most of the region jobs, and we will employ and our focus will be the residents, as many jobs as they want to have, and then to the borough, and the state as a whole, the rev it will produce for the borough which is desperately needed by the people and for schools and roads
and I believe the jobs and revenue are eagerly awaited from what I am hearing...,

(interviewer says he has been to the area 4 times and that his sense is the people are eagerly awaiting for this project to begin, and also to take them out of poverty in a generational way,)
"You are gonna impact people for generations to come Tom."
Tom says what he hears is the thought, this is why my children will stay here and not leave us.
interviewer: the people to not want to leave to anchorage, etc, they want to stay in this area, in the borough
on the performance dividend:
Tom: This project is not on native plan it is on state plan,....our program now is to distribute directly to full time residents and he is surprised that the bbandc turned down the dividend which their board decided upon, and which they could have distributed directly themselves, etc......and now people can and will opp in for the dividend money....
tom
i encourage everybody to sign up, and if you sign up before july you get in the raffle, and you do not even have to support it, the names that register will go in a hat anonymously...
the major message is take a look at site, and there will be a full page ad on the project bristol bay in the local publication very soon.
the more they have become convinced our position is the correct position.

He gave the distinct impression that the FEIS (and ROD) would be favorable, and what is more, that these decisions had been already made in a sense, and that he possessed information not available to the public on these issues, in other words he seemed highly confident the army corp and his company had everything in order, concerns addressed, the general community now informed and fairly convinced (the objectors could never be). For instance, he stated quite early that he was delighted to now be able to tell people that the FEIS would be reported into the federal register on July 24th. he was confident in the process to date imho
