Interesting...not sure if this had been brought up before (apologies in advance if it had) but I was looking at the history of Lovaza and it appears they won their court case against generics at the district level in the District Court of Delaware but lost the appeal. Hopefully the opposite will happen with Amarin.

In 2009 generic companies Teva Pharmaceuticals and Par Pharmaceutical made clear their intentions to file Abbreviated New Drug Applications to bring generics to market, and in April 2009 Pronova sued them from infringing the key US patents covering Lovaza, US 5,656,667 (due to expire in April 2017) US 5,502,077 (exp March 2013) and in May 2012 a district court ruled in Pronova's favor, saying that the patents were valid.[26][27][28] The generic companies appealed and in September 2013 the Federal Circuit reversed, saying that because more than one year before Pronova's predecessor company applied for a patent, it had sent samples of the fish oil used in Lovaza to a researcher for testing, and this constituted "public use" that made the patent invalid.[29][30] Generic versions of Lovaza were introduced in America in April 2014.[31]

OT: Pretty much made a full recovery from my positive covid test almost a month ago. Symptoms overall were mild but much longer duration compared to having the flu. First week had a headache and aches/pains with fatigue. Didn't get a fever until the second week for a few days (low grade temp) but lost my sense of taste for a few days, had a persistent cough with some crackling in my chest, couldn't take a deep breath and had some difficulty breathing. Couldn't go back to work without a negative test...first retest was positive, second was "inconclusive", third was negative...went back to work and fourth test was positive (was told this is common as the body is shedding the virus and the test detecting the RNA of a dead virus). Fifth test negative and hopefully will stay that way as now Governor Cuomo relaxed the mandate for twice a week testing for nursing home employees to only once a week.
