Barrick Gold just had its giant Papua New Guinea Porgera mine confiscated by Papua New Guinea's new prime minister, James Marape, who got elected by promising to take back all foreign-owned mines and companies and give them to the people of Papua New Guinea.
Barrick Gold used Billions of IT's money to explore the area, drill the area, build the mine, and finally start producing gold. Now that no more money is needed to be spent in getting the mine ready for production, it has been ripped away from Barric.
The mine is owned jointly 47.5%/47.5% with China's Zijin Mining.
Zijin Mining proceeded to warn Marape that you don't mess with China. Also, China has been increasing its influence in the Pacific area for years and is now Papua New Guineas's biggest creditor, but it is looking like Marape is not going to back down. If he does, it would look like he is backing down on his promise to get rid of foreign influence in the country, and he would be kicked out of office.
This is happening in all the third world governments, and it is happening to ALL the major mining companies, and there is nothing they can do about it.
They could take it to the international court of arbitration, but even if the court rules in their favor, it has no way to enforce its ruling.
These mining companies can do nothing except make a joint venture with Northern Dynasty.
And because of the way things are going, they will be desperate to make a joint venture with Northern Dynasty, and Northern Dynasty will be in the driver's seat and can negotiate a deal VERY favorable to NAK.
If Biden wins the election, he may be able to stop it from moving forward, but with the policies that he has announced, such as drastically increasing taxes, he will destroy the economy, especially Alaska's economy, and Republicans will take over in another four years.
And the Pebble will be built.
Either now if Trump is re-elected, or in four years.
Either way, the Pebble mine will be built.
And people seem to know this. We are at $1.43 + 0.17 + 13.5% on over 6 million shares.
With Barrick and its Chinese backed Zijin Mining partner just now getting their mine confiscated. And the same thing happening to other major mining companies, they may have decided that they are not going to wait for November to form a joint venture, but do it now before another company beats them to it.
Whoa. Copper's price just went up again and is now at $2.57 and climbing.
