I'm no attorney but from a family friend that is one, and has presented cases at the district level, they mentioned before that the only real benefit is in the prep (not the decision making).

Ie, the attorneys who have previously had a close working relationship with several judges could ideally guess which arguments judge X would look more favorably on and which to avoid. Especially when writing briefs or prepping for oral argument.

Of course, the impact would be really limited in this case, since we have no clue who the judges are at all!
