sillyinvestor...BIC ran both Parker pen and gave most of the razor producers almost the boot...BIC had the idea that a writing pen was nothing more than the ink it dispensed, so why have a fancy gilded delivery system?...after all was not the purpose of writing to use up the ink?...and then throwaway the dispenser...so, BIC made a cheap throwaway ball point pen, and blew Parker Pen out of the saddle..Same with the throwaway shaver..it was cheap...BIC knew that the only thing important about shaving was THE EDGE!!!!!...so why deliver the edge in a fancy stainless steel delivery system...so they almost blew out gillette and others...same with a camera..the only purpose is to capture the image, so why need film, if it can be done with a computer chip...Lexar (now defunct) was making insert chips for cheap throwaway cameras, and blew out Cannon and a lot of others, including Kodak...here is the point...there are very few Moat industries today.... every business will morph into new franchises as time passes... we will soon be witnessing the passing of currency with these new forms of Bitcoins and such...change is the only constant in business.... embrace it, or stand aside....Coop now makes home loans over the internet in a few days time, where before it took months to secure a home loan...Banking is undergoing changes, like who needs to go there to do anything, when you can do it online...pay bills, make loans, deposit checks, transfer funds... all these can be done on the computer.....Lodas
