This article on Reuters give a bit of background on the close connection between Tesla and Novonix.

Novonix has three main divisions:

1. Puregraphite anode purification factory in Chattanooga Tennessee USA.

2. Novonix Battery Testing which allows a new battery chemistry to be tested to confirm if it lasts for 500k mikes, 1million miles with only 3 weeks of testing instead of 12-18months.

This was invented by Tesla’s Pr Jeff Dahn and Novonix CEO Dr Chris Burns. Both have won Canada’s highest awards for this breakthrough.

Novonix generates $A4.5m to $A5m per yr selling these consulting services.

3. New Battery Tech which they are commercializing now

The 1million mile battery that needs Puregraphite anode material, NVX Electrolytes and DPMG Cathode.
