That two index finger typing was an old school way to get the keys down hard enough to leave ink on the paper when the ribbon was getting worn thin on the ink or just plain worn out. My dad had an Olympia which was low profile and had a carrying case and I found an old Royal I used. I had enough finger strength that I never had to resort to that two finger method but I have seen several guys use that method whether they needed to or not. They were probably quicker and more accurate than me too. Lol. Best wishes.
